Please Help Our Kinder Class Get a Rug! - The Floor is Cold!
My students need a rug for our meeting area, winter is fast approaching and the bare floor is cold. My students with special needs also are in need of sensory integration equipment like bouncy bands for chairs, sensory seats, and tactile sight word magnets.

My Students
Every morning our kindergarteners come in to class and we meet in the meeting area for our morning meeting. However, our students have been asking every day when are we going to get a rug to sit on! We spend the majority of our day gathered in the meeting area - and they deserve to feel comfortable!
I teach a kindergarten inclusion classroom that has a diverse population of students.
I have students who are highly gifted and perform quite well in the regular classroom setting and others who really struggle in the traditional setting. Some of my students with special needs have severe sensory issues. These students would greatly benefit from the sensory equipment I included on my wish list. They are incredibly sweet students and require much more tactile stimulation in order to help them focus during the long school day.
My Project
""We are gathering, we are gathering on the rug" is a song we sing to our class every morning as part of the Teacher's College curriculum. However, our poor students don't even have a rug to sit on! As winter approaches our poor little kindergarteners' bottoms are freezing as they sit on the bare floor. We are in desperate of a rug! The meeting area is a fundamental component in a kindergartener's education - unfortunately it is making our little ones very uncomfortable to sit on the cold hard floor. Our kindergarteners would be so grateful to finally have a rug to sit on during story time!
Some of my students with special needs are in major need of sensory equipment to help them focus in the classroom setting. The sensory seats and bouncy bands on chairs has been very effective in helping students with sensory issues to maintain focus.
The sight word magnets will be very effective in helping my kindergarteners learn to read new words. These textured magnets will help the many tactile learners in my class.
What is kindergarten story time with out a rug to gather on?
A rug in our meeting area will drastically improve the quality of our little ones' learning experience. They will feel much more comfortable and valued not having to sit in a very cold floor! We have promised our kindergarteners that we are working hard to get a rug for our classroom!
The sensory equipment and tactile sight words will have a tremendous impact on my students classroom performance. Please help me to provide my student's the education and learning environment that they deserve!
