My Project

The culture that we live in spends so much time on technology that it can have a negative impact on social-emotional learning. Social-emotional skills are extremely necessary for understanding and relationship building, building community, and effective communication.

These resources would be used regularly in my classes of newcomers to the United States who are learning English at school.

My goal is to teach compassion through social-emotional learning activities that also build vocabulary for listening, speaking, reading, and writing comprehension.

It is not uncommon for students to arrive too late for school to eat breakfast, which leaves them hungry that morning or later that day. Students also test better when they are not distracted by hunger. The food would be a great asset to our classroom in these circumstances.
