This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am requesting foods and snacks for my students because almost all of my students come from disadvantaged, low socio-economic homes where their families struggle to provide even their basic needs. Their families face significant problems with food insecurity, among other problems. Even with the school breakfast and lunch offered to them, they still struggle to have enough nutrition to focus and succeed. Having extra snacks and drinks allows them to access the extra nourishment they need in order to better focus during classes and avoid becoming irritable and angry due to hunger. This helps to support a more positive and productive school experience, which ultimately supports their academic success and well-being.
