I want my students to love coming to science class. I want them to be activity involved in their learning and I want it to be meaningful.
I will be teaching science to approximately 120 students in grade 6.
My school district is located in a small town and is made up of only one elementary school, one middle school, and one high school. Unfortunately, we are 'behind the times' some when it comes to technology. A few very fortunate teachers in my building have dry erase boards, SmartBoards, projectors, and/or document cameras in their classroom. I have a chalkboard, a pull-down screen, and an old overhead projector. I believe it is the same overhead projector that was in the classroom when I had 8th grade math there (many, many years ago). :) Sadly, our district is financially unable to provide technology in all of our classrooms.
My Project
There are so many things we could do with a projector in our science classroom! We could watch educational videos and online demonstrations, we could take a tour around the world with Google Earth, work out difficult problems as a class, project classroom data collected in real time using graphs, and create slideshows. The possibilities are endless. My students need the ViewSonic Projector (w/cable & ceiling mount for installation) in order to add interactivity to our science lessons.
Education is constantly changing due to the impact of the Internet and the technology that is available to our children.
We cannot teach our kids the same way in which we were taught. Times have certainly changed. Students need to be activity engaged in their learning. We now have the capabilities to make our lessons interactive. By bringing technology to my classroom, I can make my lessons come to life!
