This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach in a 100 year old building with harsh, old fluorescent lights. My students often express that it is hard to see, their eyes feel tired, and they have headaches. I want to create a classroom environment with alternative lighting.
Studies show classrooms with more natural lighting see increased student success rates up to 25%.
These lamps will allow us to have a warm, welcoming environment and avoid the use of fluorescent lights all day. My students love when we take a light break, but that is not sustainable for more than a couple of minutes. Having these lights will benefit every student, every day. Thank you so much for reading!
