Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Over 90% of our students receive a free or reduced-priced lunch. More than 97% of our students are Hispanic and from a traditionally underserved population in San Antonio. Students have scored average to above average in standardized testing despite having limited exposure to technology at home. Students do struggle to relate to their peers in better funded schools due to limited exposure to interactive technology that allows them to successfully collaborate during group activities and classroom lessons. Our kids deserve to learn in a manner that reaches all of them! Please help us get caught up to the 21st century!

My Project

I was recently awarded a grant for a mobile listening center cart; however, the old laptop I was given as a donation last year finally died. I very much want to use the listening cart I was awarded through a $500 grant this year, but I need a Bluetooth CD player to do it! Please help give my second graders a wonderful mobile listening cafe to increase their interest in reading. Our students desperately need access to this type of technology since we have no other technology in our classroom. Your support would go a long way to building literacy in my classroom!
