Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Middle school students, though challenging at times, are an interesting group of kids to spend the day with. I look forward to spending time with them in our classroom, their home away from home. I know they look forward to finding out what we're learning each day!
Some students may lack intrinsic motivation.
I go the extra mile to make them feel welcome in my classroom, and they know every day that they are not present is a day they are missed!
I try to decorate my classroom in bright colors that are welcoming and incorporate a variety of engaging activities to enhance student learning and motivation. On any given day, my students have multiple opportunities to be entered into weekly raffles, prizes, or even win something as simple as candy, as they work both individually and as a team to inch closer toward a class party!
My Project
My middle school students are in dire need of new seating for their desks. Several chairs in the classroom are a different height, and several are broken and falling apart. The students need new chairs to keep them comfortable while learning. Students will be engaged in learning as they all will be more comfortable in these new chairs.
Every student wants to walk into a classroom and be proud of where they will be learning.
These chairs will provide students with a seat that is at the appropriate level for their desk. As a result, they will be comfortable because their arms and shoulders will be at the right height when they are completing reading, and hands-on assignments at their desks. The new chairs will also be a reminder for students on a daily basis that someone cared about their comfort while learning and success in school to donate to their classroom project to support their education and future.
