My Students

What a magical doorway to learning technology is! Every student in my class loves to have a turn at using an iPad to learn new information, practice skills, and demonstrate what they know in ways their parents never dreamed of.

My class of 23 first graders jump at the chance to use one of the iPads we currently have in our classroom.

Through grants, I've been able to acquire almost enough iPads for a center during math and reading times. While our district is slowing adding technology to each classroom, it will be a long time before we have an ideal number of devices to make learning truly a 21st Century experience for our students.

My Project

Although my dream is to have an iPad for each student, I would be thrilled to have enough iPads to be able to let each student have a center time each day that includes using engaging technology. We already use what we have for reading, phonics, handwriting, math, science, problem-solving, engineering, and coding apps. With one more iPad we would be able to do whole-class games, storytelling activities, make electronic portfolios, and create our own math activities.

I want my students to have a well-rounded education, including 21st century technology knowledge and skills.

So much of their future has technology woven through it. Imagine what they will be doing in a few years with a solid foundation that integrates technology with learning!
