My Students

My students are, as T. Turner belts, “They’re simply the best, better than all of the rest…better than anyone, I’ve ever met.” They need encouragement and take lyrical advice from Smash Mouth, “Hey now, you’re an all-star, get your game on, go play…Hey now, you’re a rock star, get the show on, get paid.” They understand “believing in yourself is vital for turning a dream into reality,” and the Biebs reminds them “Everything starts from something…Believe.” They realize they'll get knocked down and that isn’t easy. They celebrate their resilience. They put on game faces and shout, “I’m a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar!” (K. Perry). They know the importance of leaning on others when a boost of confidence is needed.

My Project

Pub tables and stools will offer work space seating in the back of the chorus room for students to collaborate, socialize and gather before and after concerts and rehearsals. The tables will also be moved into the orchestra pit of the auditorium for concert performances to give the audience additional seating in a coffee-house atmosphere for the events.

Collaboration, creativity, communication and critical thinking are 21st century skills that are fostered daily in the chorus classroom.

Our rehearsal space is tiered with chairs for standing and sitting in a performance formation. The tables will offer work space for students to collaborate in a more contemporary setting.
