This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
When I started teaching at AHHS I taught grades 6, 7, and 8 Social Studies. In September I am moving to teach 10th grade English. A whole new adventure! One of the most exciting parts of the move is I will once again teach a very special group of students I had in middle school Social Studies. I am truly looking forward to learning how they have grown and changed over the year in high school. I anticipate great things from them as I help them to analyze, synthesize, and summarize literature. I look forward to them become active readers and writers. This group of students contains some very inquisitive minds and creative spirits!
My Project
My project allows me to offer my 10th grade students a flexible seating classroom environment. The research supports the idea that students who are able to select a variety of seating options take greater ownership of the work and their growth.
I endeavor, with your help, to create an environment with a variety of seating options that includes balance balls, camp chairs, carpets and traditional tables and desks.
Students will be able to select the work area that will allow them to do their best work, either individually or with peers. We also need basic classroom supplies such as composition books, clipboards, and a pencil sharpener. These materials will serve them well. Thank you for your support.
