Welcome to our first grade classroom! We are a Title I school with students from a variety of diverse backgrounds. 79% of the students in our school are English Language Learners, and 82% are considered economically disadvantaged. Despite challenges, our students are loving, outgoing learners who are committed to helping their community and others.
Part of our school mission statement is to "develop students who will make meaningful contributions to the world and become independent, lifelong learners." In our classroom, we are always reaching towards this goal.
This year, our objective is to create a classroom environment that will prepare our students to become lifelong learners.
Working in groups is an essential part of our day. We do it during reading, writing, phonics, math, and intervention times. Our students work all around the room, utilizing every last bit of space. We work hard to make sure that each part of our room is functional and has multiple uses. This chair will be the finishing element to a brand new corner of our room! The kids will be able to come to this space when they need a break, when they are working with groups, or during independent reading. Help me give my students a space they deserve!
