This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a teacher in a low-income high poverty school district, my students are faced with several obstacles both in and out of the classroom. Many of my students have parents that work 2 or more jobs. I believe that having a positive relationship with each family is vital for a student to succeed. I love to see my students smile when they have successes, nothing else compares to that feeling. My students will change the world!
My Project
Phonics is essential for young students! At our school we use a Core Knowledge Language Arts for our reading curriculum. The curriculum is great, but ultimately some students need more. I would use these magnetic boards to provide my students opportunities for remediation and extensions. It is proven that all students have different ways of learning like auditory, visual, etc. I want to be able to reach my students that are hands on learners and unfortunately we do not have the budget to order these boards. I know that this will help my young students become a grade level readers.
