I am blessed to work with second to fifth grade GT students every week! The students are thrilled to have the opportunity to learn new and different topics each class period. Eighty-two percent of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Many of my students need the additional opportunities to further advance their knowledge base.
My students need the opportunity to explore the world of Economics through the development of games, and books.
Through literature, communication, and economics, my students will better grasp how economics and financial literacy impacts their everyday lives!
The diversity in my classroom is represented by ethnic, socioeconomic and academic differences. By incorporating hands-on resources, my students will be able to make valuable connections between academics and their lives.
My Project
Economics and Financial Literacy are areas that must be taught to all! My students love the opportunity to have fun while learning concepts that will impact their lives.
Gamifieing my GT classroom, having my students create their own games based upon economics and entrepreneurs, will provide a connection that they will not forget.
My students need the following items to create a game: Apostrophe Games Blank Game Board, 100 Sheets Sticker Labels, Apostrophe Games Blank Playing Cards, Apostrophe Games 200+ Blank Square Playing Cards, ULTNICE Wooden Peg Doll Family Doll Set Wooden Craft People Unfinished Doll Bodies 20Pcs, and Value Pack of 12 - Blank board game stand-up player pieces with multi-color card stands. In order to help with the design and research, my students will need Monopoly Mastermind: Charles B. Darrow, Kobold Guide to Board Game Design, Board Game Builder: Milton Bradley, It's All a Game: The History of Board Games from Monopoly to Settlers of Catan, Board Game Design Advice: From the Best in the World, The Most Famous Entrepreneurs of All Time - Biography Book, and Make Your Own Board Game: Board Game Design and Development. Each of these books will be used to aid in the development of games based upon Economics and Entrepreneurs! Your help with this project will make a lasting impact on my students!
