Playing With a Purpose!

Help me give my students with moderate to severe autism the materials that can help them develop their language and grow as individuals with me, a newly graduated speech and language pathologist!

My Project

Student's with autism are some of the most inspiring, joyful, and hardworking students. As a newly graduated speech and language pathologist, I have always felt drawn towards these students. My students are ages 4-7 with moderate to severe autism, and some come from lower income families. My students come in every day with HUGE smiles on their faces, excited to see their peers and the adults that work with them every day. With autism, play-based speech therapy is the best way for them to learn, develop, and understand language. I hope to bring new and exciting materials into their classroom while I work with them to help foster a fun, positive environment while helping them develop the language they require to advocate for themselves, whether it's through verbal output, sign language, or aided communication (language board, communication app on a tablet). I am requesting language games, sorting toys, sensory fidgets, and more!
