My students need a good library, counseling items, and a book bin to help them discover how to be the best them they can be. Therapy toys and books are essential to diving into a child's world.
My students are K-5th graders in a suburban neighborhood of South Carolina (right across the river from Augusta GA, Home of the Masters).
Our students are eager to learn how to be better than they were yesterday and great leaders for tomorrow.
They are movers, questioners, discoverers, and inventors. Always seeking to grow!
Our students come from a diverse economic and parenting backgrounds and learn from each other daily.
They are my kids, each one different, each one lovely, each one with a specific place in this world and it is my job to help them discover it.
My Project
We use books on a daily basis to help make big ideas and concepts (character traits) come alive and stick with the students. We use books about how to control your anger, or how to keep trying to make more of an impact rather than just talking to them.
Counseling games, books, and toys are essential to learning about feelings, social interaction and being a good student/friend/person.
Bringing out books that address big ideas in an easy and understandable way makes it simple for students to apply them to their lives. It helps them open up so that I can help at the core of the issues that they may be facing.
