Kindergarten is literally the best grade to teach. I have the wonderful opportunity to teach 27 bright minds each day. There is no other grade where you see as much growth in your students. They go from learning their letters to learning to read to writing opinions pieces about important things in their lives. The growth is astounding. But growth in Kindergarten is attained in many different ways. We learn by playing, singing, acting, investigating, researching, reading, and writing.
My students love to learn!
Their excitement about learning is contagious. We are a team of budding architects, engineers, musicians, artists, and authors.
We need a new dollhouse. Our old dollhouse was bought used and has been used for many years since there. It served our classroom well. Over the last several years, the doors and roof fell off. This year, several screws fell off and it fell apart. The great thing about our old dollhouse was used not only by the girls in our room but the boys loved it as well. It was something that was used every time we played in Early Bird or Free Choice.
Playing with the dollhouse isn't just fun, it teaches key skills too!
Some get skills we learn through playing with the dollhouse include problem solving, imagination and creativity, classification skills, and organizational skills. We also learn life skills and vocabulary development.
