My Project
Our school is in a close knit community in the Bay Area. We receive very little funding and do not have a budget to purchase new playground equipment for our 300+ 1st through 5th graders to use every day at recess and during PE. As you can imagine, kids LOVE playing with balls, jump ropes, hula hoops, and more at recess and these items can rack up quite a bit of wear and tear. We have very little usable equipment left to start the school year with.
I am asking for different types of balls (soccer, football, tetherball, & more), as well as other play equipment like jump ropes and hula hoops, to allow our elementary school students to actively play during their recess and PE times.
These materials would be used daily by all students to play games and sports at recess, and for more structured instruction during PE. A high quality recess is vital in a well rounded education, and provides many social and emotional benefits that lead to higher academic gains as well. I know our students would be absolutely thrilled to come out to the playground to see an equipment cart brimming with new supplies for them!
