This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are a quaint little school in a neighborhood that feels like a small town in a big city.
At our school, classes are small and everyone is treated like family.
The majority of students come from low-income households and have limited resources, yet we have an extremely active PTA. We take great pride in the level of parental involvement at our school. My students are bright and engaged. They have a love of school and have a love of learning.
My Project
I am requesting floor puzzles and letter activities for students to use independently during reading and math centers. Students are encouraged to engage in play-based experiences to promote collaboration and community building. Students develop language skills, critical thinking skills, and confidence.
These activities will be used to strengthen knowledge about numbers, letters, and science and social studies concepts.
Students work directly with a teacher during small-grip rotations. Students should feel competent and comfortable when they move to independent centers. These activities will allow students to work independently at the beginning of the school year as they learn the center-time procedures.
