Play to Learn Through Touch

My Students

My students have a thirst for knowledge and they love when I can make learning fun for them. In our pre-K classroom we are blessed with a diversity of students that all learn differently. I teach ages 3-5 and they love hands on activities, dramatic play, and partner learning. My students learn best through play, therefore I create my lessons and assessments to incorporate play. At this age kids want to know everything about the world so they are already excited about learning. Playing comes natural to them therefore they learn more through play than a lecture.

My Project

In my classroom we have two sensory tables. I would love to use these tables with hands on toys that the students can use to create structures and explore different textures. Therefore with these items, like the sand kit, I will let the child explore through their senses and I will hide shapes, letters, numbers, and colors in with the sensory toys for the students to explore. I will also use these resources for the students to create their letters, numbers, and shapes with the sensory materials. This gives my students a better understanding of those preschool concepts and they have fun while learning them.
