Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Pre-K students come from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds. Many of my students are experiencing a classroom setting for the very first time and have never interacted with children their own age. Their social-emotional development is crucial at such an influential stage. Many students are discovering how to express themselves. The majority of my students are learning English for the first time and have recently moved here from other countries. Many receive free lunch based on their socioeconomic status and are being raised in single-parent households. Despite these challenges, my students love coming to school to learn.
My students are energetic, kind, and extremely intelligent.
Their imaginations and creativity never fail to impress me. Their passion and determination to learn and grow are what make me proud to call myself their Pre-K teacher.
My Project
Our classroom needs updated toys to continue building social and imagination skills.
The addition of a dollhouse, and place mats will enhance the way they play in the dramatic play area.
Our young students learn best through play and the advantages of imaginative play provides many benefits to their growth and development. In the dramatic play area, they develop language skills and coordination. They solve problems and develop social skills. They will learn basic house skills that they will take with them to their own homes. Having these toys in our dramatic play area would enhance the possibilities for their play.
Please help us have the materials these students need to learn through play.
