Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are highly motivated learners that love to acquire new information each day. Each student arrives to my classroom ready to learn and explore. I love seeing the progress that each one of my students makes each day.
My students are the first in their homes to learn to speak English.
My students' parents encourage their children to get an education, but lack the literacy skills to help their children at home. Students in my classroom encourage each other to reach academic goals and model kindness throughout our school.
My Project
My students need materials to help them learn how money works in the real world. My classroom lacks materials that engage my students in financial literacy.
Board games are a passion in my classroom and these financial literacy games would increase their knowledge about money.
My students need to learn how money works, whether through spending, savings or investing. Students will engage in a Financial Unit in the month of April and will use these games in stations around the classroom.
Students need to learn how to count money, how to make change with a purchase of cash and how to handle an ATM card. Students need to also understand how the banking system works and through games in my project they will have a better understanding of money and how to manage their finances in the future.
