My Project
Play is crucial in kindergarten as it serves as a dynamic and holistic vehicle for early childhood development. Kindergarten-aged children are in a pivotal stage of their cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth. Through play, they explore and make sense of the world around them, enhancing their creativity, imagination, and problem-solving skills.
Puzzles help children develop cognitive skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, and spatial awareness.
They learn to analyze and categorize different pieces, identify patterns, and find solutions. The puzzles I have selected tie into our various themed studies for the year. Playing with blocks helps children develop fine motor skills as they manipulate and stack blocks. It also enhances hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness as they learn to fit blocks together and balance structures. Blocks are open-ended toys that allow children to create whatever they can imagine. Block play often involves collaboration and cooperation as children work together to build structures or play imaginatively. The Magformers and Wooden Tree Toy provide unique block building experiences to help keep the center new and engaging. Additionally, the play dirt will provide students with play experiences in our sensory bin to support fine motor skills.
The goal is to provide students with play experiences where they will engage with the material and practice their math and literacy skills authentically.
