Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Play helps to develop the brain in ways essential to student success. Many, if not all, of my students have not attended preschool and haven't had the opportunity to use real objects to develop creativity and imagination through authentic play.

I work at a Title One school in California.

My Kindergarten students are low income and most qualify for our free and reduced lunch program. Many of the students are English language learners with no preschool experience. The students I teach are eager to learn and embrace all of the new experiences that come with going to school for the first time. They are enthusiastic about learning and playing!

My Project

Child development experts assert that play is an essential part of learning. Through play, children learn social skills, problem solving skills and how to express emotion. English language learners also benefit from dramatic play by using language to communicate in an unrestricted environment. These resources will allow my students to experiment with different roles within the classroom.

School success greatly depends on a child's ability to effectively interact with his or her peers.
