This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is in a high poverty, low income neighborhood, many are dual language homes. My students are your typical 5 and 6 year olds who are curious and eager to participate in activities. During Center time, I provide opportunity for free play, but also include centers where they apply learned concepts in math and literacy for practice. Supplying them with materials and tools to use during centers that are fun and help them practice is a great way for them to continue to improve.

My students are energetic and love hands on activities!

Supplying them with a variety of activities during centers will keep their enthusiasm and engagement high. These materials and tools will allow them to engage and improve their math and phonics skills.

My Project

Having materials for my students that will engage them during center choice time is important. Having a variety of academic hands on activities allows them to practice learned concepts in a fun and interactive way. These games will help them improve their math and phonics fluency and skills, while also giving opportunity for beneficial social interactions.

My students love hands on activities and play.

Activities that include games, stamps and other tactile materials allow them to work collaboratively, enjoy themselves and have fun. It is a strategic way to have them practice and learn, while thinking they are just playing!
