My Students
Welcome! Thank you for taking the time to visit my page.
I currently have 19 lively, energetic first graders in my classroom.
My students attend a school that is located in an economically challenging area of Kanawha County. Students from this area have varying academic, social and economic needs. Each child receives free breakfast and lunch.
I take pride in my classroom and I want students to be excited about coming to school each day. My students instantly become more engaged in an activity when I introduce a new reading or math game. They love working together to create stories and figure out challenging math problems. I encourage my students to work together on many activities in the classroom. This helps them to learn, make friends and work on how to solve disagreements.
My Project
My students LOVE using the Osmo in the classroom. This is a fun, hands-on way to engage them in reading and math. They not only have fun building words and numbers, but they LOVE playing with a friend. Playing with a partner helps foster friendships and motivates students to work together in a cooperative group.
I bought my first Osmo a few years ago and it has remained one of the students' favorite games to play during center time.
It would be wonderful if we could have a couple more in our classroom so the students could enjoy them more often!
