I started my teaching career over 25 years ago in a preschool classroom. Since then I have moved between Kindergarten and 1st grade. This year I was excited to go back to where I began. My children love creating and have gone through more paint than I ever imagined possible. They also enjoy the dramatic play area and are constantly role playing. What impresses me the most is their imagination and the way they create props to go with whatever role they are acting out.
As Mr. Rogers used to say, "Play is serious learning." Boy do my kids know how to play.
I chose the items on my list specifically to enhance my students' imagination and social emotional learning skills.
The dramatic play items, such as the play vacuum, and pets are really going to help with communication and problem solving. They will incorporate working together in a way that sparks imagination and creativity! I can't wait to see my students' big smiles as they explore these new items.
