Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is located in a rural area where students often face many challenges outside of the classroom along with those they face every day at school. Yet, it's amazing how resilient they are when faced with challenges at school and at home. I'm inspired every day when I see the effort they put into their schoolwork. For many of my students, the classroom is their safe place to be. With all of the challenges my students overcome, they enjoy coming to school everyday and learning. They truly inspire me to keep working to provide them with the best learning experience!
My Project
My students love beginning their Monday mornings with a can of Play Doh and creating images describing their weekends. Others simply enjoy sitting and squeezing the Play Doh while adjusting to being back at school and beginning another week. We don't have enough Play Doh for everyone and the kids have been asking for more.
Wobble Chairs are a brilliant new invention to allow for flexible classroom seating.
Traditional chairs are rigid, uncomfortable and dangerous if a child leans back in them. Wobble Chairs provide students with the opportunity to control their movement while remaining seated and focused. Beginning with two Wobble Chairs in my classroom will help my students who need to move but also sit and focus at the same time. We are in need of a new pencil sharpener as well!
