Help me give my students new toys. With kindergarten becoming more play-based, I am hoping to give my students new toys to spark their imaginations and increase social skills in the classroom!
Can you remember Kindergarten? It has changed so much in just the fourteen years I have been teaching. When I look back on my education, I can remember learning about colors, letters, and numbers in Kindergarten. Today, children, who are five and six, are expected to leave kindergarten knowing how to read, add, subtract, complete word problems, and spell words. It's a humongous task and growing harder and harder each year.
So many students are coming to school with a lot of traumatic baggage they should not be dealing with; I want our school to be a safe and fun place for students.
A place where they know they are loved and where learning is fun. It is my job to make learning exciting and innovative. I also believe that it takes a village to raise a child and we can't do it alone. I need your help to give these awesome kids the best shot for a successful start to their education career.
My Project
I am asking for new toys to help spruce up our classroom and inspire our students to use their imagination. I believe these toys will help with social-emotional skills such as taking turns, sharing, joining groups, and learning appropriate play.
In today's society, everyone is plugged in, and losing their imaginations; I am hoping to teach our students to love playing with dolls, castles, trains, and dinosaurs, all while interacting with their friends!
It will really help students learn polite social skills while having fun! We appreciate all the help and support you can give to our class. I look forward to sharing pictures of happy children playing with "cool" new toys that are helping to spark their love for learning!
