My Students

At the Title I school I teach at there are over 40 different languages spoken and many of my students are not from the United States. My goal is to empower my students through language and academic excellence. My mission is to foster determination, respect, diversity, and inclusion. Since my students come from homes where a language other than English is spoken, they have limited English proficiency. My students are in the ESOL program, and since the beginning of the school year I have noticed some regression of their language language skills since the emergency school closures due to COVID-19.

For this upcoming school year, I would like to be able to address their unique needs in order for them to be more successful learning the English language.

They love hands-on, activities, engaging projects/centers and opportunities to collaborate with peers. My hope is that these resources will motivate them to come to school each day ready to try new things in order to grow both personally and academically.

My Project

My students absolutely love learning, but their stamina is fading. For the remainder of the school year and next year I want to be able to offer many hands on learning opportunities. My goal is to use these materials to help me incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met!

The educational resources and centers would assist my students in learning the alphabet and letter sounds using a multi-sensory approach.

The sight word learning materials would help my students become familiar with sight words necessary to build, read, and write sentences with confidence.

These resources would help me provide more intensive support to my ESOL students by offering more exciting educational activities that use fun manipulatives. I am positive these new tools will help us become proficient readers!
