This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students have multiple disabilities and are in a self-contained classroom setting. All students learn using the extended standards and use technology and communication devices to communicate with teachers and peers.
The students in my classroom benefit from a small group setting with minimal distractions, including noise, people moving around and talking.
The students work through independent work, bucket work using manipulatives, typing and one-on-one with the teacher. The students in my classroom enjoy music, computer and playing outside. The students enjoy working together and working with the adults to further their knowledge in the classroom and community.
My Project
My students need materials to learn to play together and alone. Students will engage in partner play using the various sports balls. Students will learn to take turns and play together. The trampoline will be used as a sensory/exercising device in the classroom for students to get out extra energy. The cot will be used for student who need alone time in a dark quiet place to regroup themselves before coming back to an activity. All of these objects will be used to avoid frusteration in the classroom and to avoid a negative behavior outburst in the classroom. Students will be encourage to focus on the task at hand without getting overwhelmed.
