This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Each of my student wants to learn to plant and grow his/her own food. Using mini plant pots, students have been given the opportunity to be involved in every stage from germination to harvesting. However, Lettucegrow Farmstand will expose students to other strategies of growing plants and producing food besides using the traditional soil-based system. Students will not only have hands-on experience exploring STEM concepts while developing soft skills on how food grows but also gain experience in sustainability. Also, students will learn what they need to start growing fresh, healthy food in the classroom. Additionally, this will stimulate student interest in career exploration and help them achieve success in high-demand jobs.
By donating to our project, my students will not only nurture skills they already have in science, nutrition, and agriculture but also develop their engineering, business, and marketing skills.
Further, students will be able to practice accountability, critical thinking, and teamwork as they work together to grow food. They will learn to give back to their community as well.
The interactive experience that the Farmstand provides will engage students as well as allow them to connect with the lessons and understand their relevance on a global scale.
