Plants for Positivity

Help me give my students the planting materials needed to care for their own plant.

My Students

Pre-K4 is such an exciting group of mixed interests, abilities, and goals. Some of my students are learning to read, write, and count, while some of their classmates are learning phoneme segmentation or how to communicate with others in a group setting. It is often some children's first time in a school setting. As a teacher, it is my passion to instill a love for learning within my students.

Many of my cool kids face adversity, their challenges do not define their ability to learn at school, every day.

Some of my students have been through so much (emotional trauma, food insecurities, and economic instabilities, etc.) in their short lives. I want them to feel included, safe, and supported in our learning environment. I introduce them to literature and math concepts when they enter my classroom. I see potential and greatness in all of my young scholars. I want them to have access to resources to help them achieve what I know they are capable of accomplishing. My cool kids are the future and I want to give them the greatest start!

My Project

We are in unprecedented times with the new omicron variant. I worry about my students health and wellness during a pandemic as they are worried that they might get Coronavirus. In order to keep them fully engaged at school we are requesting plant seeds and plant supplies. Students will be able to plant, and care for their own plant.

The calming influence of plants is conducive to positive environments by increasing a person’s ability to concentrate on the task at hand.

My students worry if they’re going to get sick and have to quarantine, they want to know will our school get shut down again, and many ask why some of their friends are absent from school. Each student will get their own planter. I anticipate rapid growth with the soil and fertilizer. The planters are well made as students will have to water them multiple times throughout the growing process. Once the flowers bloom the students will be able to take them home. Plants in the environment help reduce stress and promote health and wellness. We are asking for donors to assist us with this project so we can plant positivity.
