Help me give my students scholastic magazines to add some fun and up to date reading material to supplement their daily lessons.

We have a resilient (and amazing) group of students that come from an area of our country with a high concentration of crime, poverty, violence, drugs and abuse. We see many families repeating cycles such as teen pregnancy, drug abuse and violence. Many of our students come from families who remain in their neighborhoods and city walls for life. Our goal as educators is to break cycles and start fresh.
These energetic and outwardly happy children show up at school each day, regardless of what is happening at home and in their neighborhoods, to excel at reading and math, to rejoice in friendships they are making and learn life long skills to enable them to "fly".
We can literally change the world one student at a time by teaching and demonstrating that life that exists beyond the walls of the classrooms and pages of a textbook. We want our students to explore the world as they please and make friends with people of different cultures.
Our inner city charter school has large budget constraints which limit the amount and quality of reading materials our students have access to. Our library consists of predominantly donated fiction books which limits the exposure our students have to the outside world.
Our students need to become aware of cultures, health practices, art forms and history that extend beyond the city's confines.
One of the main priorities of educating these children is to show them what is outside their front door and beyond. For example, one of our field trips included heading out to a pumpkin patch so they could pick their first ever pumpkins (at age 12!). I am hoping by obtaining some scholastic magazines with various topics that include more global issues, that will help expand their horizons and give them a sense of adventure. We have 100% college acceptance rate for our senior classes upon graduating-my hopes are that they will use their opportunities to see the world and eventually change their world for the better. These magazines could help plant the seeds of curiosity.
