My Students

Located on a steep hilltop, our continuation high school overlooks a panoramic view of downtown. Students who have not been successful at traditional high schools find success and the project based programs prepare students for the real world, building essential life skills. Students choose from projects that focus on music, theater, outdoor education and environment: all with a social justice focus. Service learning is an essential element at our school.

Students are working in the urban school garden, growing healthy food plants and creating posters for nutrition education.

My Project

Students are preparing our urban school garden for new food plants and seeds. They are weeding and using compost in the soil. They are researching different nutritional food plants to grow. Students will also create garden jobs checklist so that class members take turns weeding, watering, planting and harvesting.

Students will grow the different nutritional food plants, design plant signs for the garden and then make posters to let other students know about the delicious food in the garden!

These posters will encourage students to try different garden foods as they are harvested. Students will also research and suggest nutritional recipes for the garden food.
