Plant Exploration

My students need a theme box, water exploration station, plant lab, and paints so we can begin our new unit of study on plants.

My Students

The majority of my Pre-kindergarten children live in Greenpoint, Brooklyn! We are a Blue Ribbon Title 1 School! Our students come to school every day eager to learn, and have a very unique love for learning. They enjoy listening to read aloud books, explore with a variety of hands on materials. “What new materials will we be using today , Mrs. Laker?” This is a question that is asked daily of my students.

My Project

These materials will make learning more hands on and exciting for our students! They will be able to explore learning in a new and exciting environment. Our materials will be used through out the month and will be interchanged in different centers that are around our classroom, math center, science center, writing center, art center, block center, and our kitchen center. Our learning centers will be constantly updated and the students will be able to discuss with their peers what they are learning about. Students will be encouraged to explore new skills, concepts, and vocabulary words and will add to their wonder about plants! We can’t wait to get started! Paint is needed in order for the students to be able to produce beautiful colored flowers, and seeds they will be learning about. Our students are very creative and use paint for almost everything in our classroom setting. The water exploration tubes will be used so the students will be able to see first hand how plants, flowers, and vegetables establish roots and begin to grow. The growing theme box is requested so our students will have all of the hands on manipulatives they need in the science center to explore plant life. Our plant lab that we requested will bring the same experience to our young learners and they will have the opportunity to explore, create, and learn in a fun exciting way!
