My Project
Hello. I plan on using the materials requested to teach my second graders how to grow plants and vegetables from seed to plant. A good majority of my students are from underprivileged homes and have never had the opportunity to see a vegetable go from seed to vegetable before. Part of the first and second grade science curriculum includes plant life cycle. I would love to teach them how to grow their own food. I would love to instill a sense of pride and ownership into their lives by giving them the tools to grow their own vegetables. I still remember the excitement I felt as a child watching the cucumber that I planted grow. A child is more likely to eat a once dreaded vegetable if he or she grew it themselves.
