Thank you for taking the time to look at my project! I work in a small, rural school district, and next year the 5th grade is being consolidated into one room. Right now it looks like there will be 26 students with various levels of needs. I am ready for the challenge- but I need a little bit of help.
Due to the high number of students I could possibly have next year, I wanted a way to easily communicate with parents and guardians what we did during school each day.
I usually write the assignments and lessons on the board so students know what the plan for the day is, and I try to allow for time for all work to be finished. Occasionally, I have students who take work home for homework, but not often. With a larger number, I can see sending more homework home than I am used to. With these planners, I can quickly and easily communicate what we did in class that day and indicate if they finished their assignments or not.
There is a place for me to sign off that an assignment was completed, places for notes to and from the teacher, and other helpful sections for the students. This will also allow students to learn and practice organizational skills as we prepare them for middle school. This is going to be a year-long lesson in planning and organization, and I am hopeful students learn the best way to keep themselves organized and prepared for class!
