Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are motivated individuals. They try their hardest on all assignments. These students are in an English/science resource setting and come from diverse backgrounds that cause several challenges for these students. Their school setting allows these students more steps to achievement and success in their classes.

They are really interested in hands-on activities and anything that keeps them moving.

Visual representations help my students retain information. They become very motivated about the concepts being taught when they know they will be working with their hands to manipulate something or seeing a moving model. This project will give my students resources that they can use for multiple classes.

My Project

My students get a vague idea of the parts of our planet from reading our textbooks, but these DVDs will give them a stunning visual of the part of our planet we are studying. They will be able to gain a new perspective through these episodes.

They will gain ideas and understanding of each biome through these films.

When we discuss the rainforest, for example, they will be able to see the canopy, the understory, and the forest floor. They will gain a better understanding of resources that are available and the inherent dangers. They will be able to understand these ideals for all biomes through watching the episode and class discussion.
