Help me give my students the complete light table sensory set, the light table magnetic blocks, the light table math tray set, kinetic sand and the water beads to help enhance their learning through sensory play.
At our school, we firmly believe that all children, no matter what their cognitive levels are, have the capacity to learn. Through this belief, we as teachers are constantly finding creative and new learning approaches to help our students be successful.
This year, I am working with twenty amazing 4-year-old preschool students attending our full day preschool program.
These students are either attending preschool for the very first time or transitioning from half-day to full day. The students come from various cultural, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds which lends itself to a diverse classroom environment. The students also have different learning preferences whether it is visual, kinesthetic, or auditory.
Regardless of their backgrounds and their learning preference, all of the students are eager to learn and explore their world around them. My goal is to give them as many tools as possible to become active and engaged learners. The past year has been fantastic! My students have been so excited receiving items that we have had funded through DonorsChoose.org. I love seeing the excitement on their faces as they explore new materials that help enhance our learning program. We are always grateful when a project gets funded!
My Project
Preschoolers are so excited to be learning new things in class. However, they are still only 4 years old, and I am always looking for new ways to entice their imagination and keep them engaged in learning experiences.
The sensory materials I am asking for will help engage the students in learning while they engage in fun, sensory-oriented tasks.
While we have some materials for our sensory area within the classroom, we could certainly use more. The items I am asking for will help supplement this area within the classroom. The complete set of sensory materials will be used as a base to put in with the light table. The students can then enjoy sorting for alphabet letters, numbers, or other items that are related to the current unit topic. The math tray set will have them working on their foundational math skills while having fun. The water beads are always a huge hit and the students love sifting through them to find manipulatives or they also enjoy using tongs to scoop them up which works on their fine motor skills. The kinetic sand allows them to explore their imagination while creating some really wonderful items through the use of molds or just by using their own mind.
