My Students

My students are thriving young performing artists. They are exploring all aspects of performance from music literacy, character development, solo performance, and ensemble experiences. Performing arts experiences encourage collaboration.

Meeting students with 21st century, real-world learning opportunities is essential to providing relevance in a traditional performance ensemble.

I share this idea with my students often. "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit." ~Aristotle.

Our school is in the heart of a community that supports education and knows its value. Students are motivated and engaged. Students are eager to learn; they embrace a challenging work environment and express the desire to be the best in all endeavors.

My Project

Music Composition is an important way to measure student growth and understanding in Music Theory and Piano. The Staff paper will be utilized during individual and group instruction to enhance student knowledge. Music Theory develops and sharpens music student's analytical, critical thinking, and literacy aptitude.

The resources will support preparation for notating and composing original music.

It will also be used to support music literacy so that students have a deeper understanding of how music is put together. As my students progress through AP Music Theory and Piano the additional materials requested will aid and support student growth. The items listed will help students by providing another layer of support for mastery of musical concepts.
