My Project

I have a group of 20 students who love developing their social skills through playing games. Gameplay has helped build language confidence in the 7 students in my class who are multilingual learners as well as in the 4 students who receive speech therapy services. I would love to add chess to my game arsenal!

Playing chess encourages social, language, and critical thinking skills through turn-taking, playing fairly, problem-solving, patience, empathy, and being a respectful winner/loser.

In our building, we have another kindergarten teacher who has successfully taught his students chess. These students have increased their problem-solving and social skills plus a love for chess! I would appreciate your support in encouraging these same skills in my class. Thank you for your consideration!
