Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My greatest moments are always when I see my students start to make personal connections and come together as a classroom family. This is particularly difficult for my students as many of them have Autism and delays in the areas of communication and social skills.
Just yesterday one of my boys approached another boy, who has Autism, and finds it very difficult to allow others to enter into his space.
They shared a car track playing alongside each other for 15 minutes! I get to see these firsts all year long and it's a privilege to watch them ALL grow and meet their goals!
My Project
The learning easel will bring math and literacy activities to my student's eye level. I have little ones that need support to focus and attend and with this perfectly-sized easel, I will have excited scholars! Also, this easel will do double duty in my room. My curious kiddos will be able to use it during free play to further explore concepts at their pace. They can use magnetic visuals to retell their favorite stories, numbers to build math concepts and even design their own marble maze! Science, math, literacy and social engagement are just a few areas my students would benefit from!
