Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We've noticed that many of our middle schoolers need a variety of options to connect to their new school and friends. Many of them sit alone during lunch and end up resorting to using their Chromebooks or phones. With the creation of our "Middle School House" system, we have assigned each student to a "house" where they will enjoy weekly activities with their housemates. This is modeled after the famous Hogwarts houses. While we have the teachers and the students assigned, we do not have all the materials to make the activities come to life.
This outdoor pingpong table will help the school bring more joy and connection to the middle school students!
With all these activities, we want them to be off their devices, play games, and create community with their new peers. Middle school can be a challenging time for a lot of students, but it doesn't have to be. Let's bring back the playfulness!
These activities and this project are part of the effort to use the Google grant given to our school at the start of the school year to support our mental health efforts.
