This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our maker space at CityLab fosters creativity and independence among our high school students. One of the most requested tools is a button maker for the space. Our students enjoy buying pins from Amazon, Newbury Comics, and Hot Topic. They usually wear them with pride on their lanyards and school bags. While the buttons are cute, witty, and fun- they usually cost $3-5 dollars. Well, why consume when you can create! Especially when you have supplies at your finger tips!
A button maker in our space will inspire more opportunities to make for our students.
Having the supplies and the tools for students to design their own buttons will give them a even bigger voice. They can design buttons for a class projects, interest in a school club, support a side business or just for their own fashion.
