This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is a Title One public school located in inner-city Los Angeles. Many of my students come from low-income families. Many of them do not have regular access to books, supplies or even regular homework support, and depend on teachers and school staff for support.
They are eager and enthusiastic students who come to school to learn new things every day with a positive attitude and I strive to provide them with an environment that can help them be successful.
They are curious about all things around them and the unknowns.
My Project
Independent Reading can be a difficult task for some students. So, why not inspire them to read in comfort. Some students often get tired of sitting at their desks and quickly become distracted or they have the option of sitting on the rug but get tired and quickly leave. Comfortable pillows will allow them to snuggle up and be cozy as they read their books. If they are comfortable they will be more focused on their reading. YES! Their stamina will increase, it will keep students excited about reading, and the more they enjoy reading the more they will succeed and become better readers.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
