My students are excited to come to school each day and to learn from one another. They enjoy working in collaborative groups and sharing their knowledge with each other. They enjoy using their critical thinking skills to evaluate new information while integrating the arts to show their learning. They get very excited any time we can use technology in the classroom, and they aren't afraid to try something new.
Jane Goodall once said, "You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you.
What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make." With this quote in mind, I want to help my students become aware of the impact they are having on the world around them.
My Project
In second grade, one of our most important units is when students learn about money! Knowing the difference between wants and needs, saving for the future, and counting money will help establish good financial literacy skills. Having the opportunity to make and keep a personalized piggy bank creates lasting memories for second graders. Integrating art and math is a fun way to strengthen learning.
We want students to learn the importance of financial literacy at an early age so they are able to make wiser choices for their future.
I can't wait to hear about the kids' savings goals. A penny saved is a penny earned!
