My Project

I share a classroom with two other special education teachers. My third of our classroom has a large built-in cabinet that takes up a great deal of space and is inefficient, as the 31" x 43" shallow wood drawers are designed to accommodate posters.

We would like to repurpose the sturdy wooden drawers into tables to create alternative spaces in our classroom.

Our project is to create a mosaic with the school logo, which will create classroom community and pride.

Creating the mosaic requires teamwork and collaboration. The students can work together to design and assemble the mosaic, fostering a sense of community and unity among them. The choice of the school logo will represent the identity and values of the school. By creating a mosaic with the logo, students can feel a sense of pride and connection to our school's identity. When students contribute to the creation of the mosaic, they will feel a sense of ownership and pride in the final product. This can boost their self-esteem and instill a sense of belonging to the school community.

The mosaic tabletop will serve as a visual symbol of unity and pride within the classroom. It can serve as a focal point that brings students together and reinforces a sense of belonging. Seeing the school logo displayed prominently in the form of a mosaic can inspire and motivate students to work hard, achieve their goals, and take pride in our school community.

Overall, creating a mosaic with the school logo can enhance classroom community and pride by fostering collaboration, celebrating identity, instilling ownership, promoting unity, and inspiring students to feel connected and proud of our school.

"We become not a melting pot but a beautiful mosaic. Different people, different beliefs, different yearnings, different hopes, different dreams." -Jimmy Carter
