Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Imagine your first day of school and how proud you felt to be a "big kid" off on your own for the whole day. Maybe you remember your beaming smile as you displayed your very first work of art for all to see. Do you have fond memories of your buddies from childhood? While those memories will always be dear to your heart, I bet you have some photographs to commemorate those special events. Now imagine that you have no pictures at all to capture those magic childhood moments. You have just put yourself in the shoes of many of my first grade students at PS 197 in the South Bronx. These children come from low-income families and from homes where there are no cameras or pictures to capture the intense life and emotions of a six-year old. Their school experiences are so vibrant and exciting for them, but often they have no way to remember them and share them with others. Picture this! You can help my students see a brighter future by giving them the photos to remember their past. I would like to purchase a Kodak EasyShare digital camera and Printer dock with accessories so that my students can begin to create beautiful memories.
