My Project

My students are storytellers, content creators, and visual learners who are excited to explore how technology can be used to express ideas and capture meaningful moments. Many come from under-resourced communities and have never had access to professional photography equipment. They’re curious, creative, and eager to learn new skills that connect science, art, and career readiness.

Photography is more than just pictures it’s science, math, and technology in action.

Through this project, students will learn about shutter speed, aperture, ISO, and lighting all foundational elements in physics and engineering.

We’re requesting camera basic lighting equipment so students can take control of the creative and technical aspects of photography. They will study light properties, experiment with settings, learn digital editing, and produce content that tells a story from STEM experiments to school events and personal photo essays.

This hands-on experience builds critical thinking, problem-solving, and visual literacy while also introducing students to creative STEM careers in media, journalism, fashion, marketing, and digital production.

The Impact:

Understand light behavior, exposure, and lenses

Practice real-world STEM concepts through photography

Build confidence by producing and editing original content

Learn industry-relevant digital media and tech skills
