Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach art to some of the most creative and fantastic elementary students in the county! My classroom is shared with my fellow team teacher - together, we teach about 700 students. Our classroom is very spacious with tables and stools, but we would like to start introducing "flexible seating" for students who create artwork better when they are sitting in a special type of seat.
Inquisitive, excited, and creative; my students are extremely talented and deserve a comfortable and homey environment.
They amaze me every day with their passion! I look forward to seeing them thrive even more with flexible seating.
My Project
This project will provide special flexible seats for students who are fidgety and need help focusing. Wobble seats allow students to sit in their seats to wobble back and forth, or sit on the floor on a comfortable cushion. I have up to 58 students in my classroom at a time; having these flexible seating options will help students focus and be less tempted to distract the other students at their table!
With these new seats, the classroom will become a homey environment for all students!
I have noticed that students work more productively and creatively when they are given options, so these seats will be conducive for great masterpieces to be created. Also included are new books for our Art book library and a projector to start painting murals in the school!
